Michael Ludwig – Violin, Viola
Connected to the great Russian violin school of Leopold Auer and Raphael Bronstein, Michael Ludwig has served as Adjunct Professor of Violin at the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University as well as Artist-in-Residence at Montclair State University. Michael’s deep commitment to education and approach to violin teaching has been shaped by his studies with his father, Irving Ludwig, as well as his studies with two of the great violin pedagogues of the 20th century, Josef Gingold and Raphael Bronstein. Michael has led master classes at the Frost School of Music, Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing, National Repertory Orchestra, and New World Symphony. As a soloist, Michael has recorded with the London Symphony Orchestra, Royal Scottish National Orchestra, and Buffalo Philharmonic amongst others and has appeared as soloist with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Boston Pops. He is formerly Concertmaster of the Buffalo Philharmonic and Associate Concertmaster of the Philadelphia Orchestra, and is presently the Music Director of the Roxborough Orchestra. Michael offers private violin and viola lessons in South Jersey, as well as via Zoom, Skype and FaceTime.
