Hannah Rose Nicholas – Viola, Violin, Songwriting
Hannah Rose Nicholas is a violist, songwriter, and teacher. She is the principal violist of the Philadelphia Ballet Orchestra, and she plays with the East Coast Chamber Orchestra and the Philadelphia Orchestra as a substitute violist. Hannah has performed at the Philadelphia Chamber Music Society, the 92nd St. Y, and the Lincoln Center Atrium 360 Series, and has been a soloist at the Kennedy Center Millennium Stage, the Lucerne Festival Academy in Switzerland, the New World Symphony, and the ‘O, Miami’ Poetry Festival, where she was featured for three seasons. She co-founded the Shizuka Viola Duo in 2017, following a contemporary music residency at the Barnes Museum, and has written, recorded, and performed her own compositions with musicians from Philadelphia’s world music, jazz, and rock scenes. Hannah teaches viola and songwriting at the University of Pennsylvania, and she teaches viola, violin, songwriting and improvisation in her private studio.
